ACCESSIBILTY INFORMATION FOR ST JAMES'

Car Parking is on a 1 hour disc on surrounding streets on Monday to Saturday, unlimited stay on Sunday; and can be limited especially at School start and end times. For longer stays please use town centre car parks as we have no private parking.

For those with wheelchairs and prams/pushchairs please use the shallow ramp (to the right of the church, half way along the church wall) which takes you straight to the south side door which is always unlocked when the church is open, and has a power access button. There is a chair lift in the church foyer to the upper level.
We have a loop system to aid hearing. At all services we have large print service books, pew sheets and hymn books on request.  Please indicate to our stewards if you need assistance to receive Communion. Alternatively if you wish for Communion to be given to you where you are sitting just let any sides-person know. We have an accessible toilet at the back of church.

ACCESSIBILTY INFORMATION FOR ST NICHOLAS'

There  are nearby public Car Parks or 1 hour on Street (discs available in the Tower Entrance). We recommend that Blue Badge holders park on Queen Street or Lowther Street and access the site through the Lowther Street entrance which has the widest gates. We have no private parking.

There is full wheelchair access via the front door ramp to the ground floor (and throughout the grounds), but this is not possible to the mezzanine level and Parish Office or the exhibition room, due to the constraints of this historic building: we apologize for any inconvenience.

Unfortunately there is currently no chair/pushchair access to the raised area (either from the churchyard or the chapel) which is the ruins of the former Church, where the mines mosaic is.

If you wish for Communion to be given to you where you are sitting that is fine just let the person know who is giving out the hymn books at the back of Church.

There is a hearing loop installed and large print service books are available on request. Refeshments are available during all opening hours.

There are toilet facilities, but due to space limitations in this historical building these are not accessible to the chair-bound. Facilities are available at the two supermarkets in the town, or please have a word with our staff who will assist you wherever practically possible.

If you need to access the Parish Office on the upper floor please ask our Volunteers and they will ask our Parish Administrator to come down to meet you on the ground floor. If necessary she will use the Chapel for a private discussion.
