This is her introduction to us, written by her, with a photograph-

I'm Alison Riley, married to Tony Riley; we have no children.  I've lived in Whitehaven since 2002 - I'm a teacher by background - I've taught maths in schools and run a private tuition business.  Today, I lead Network Youth Church for the Deanery - we do church in a way that makes sense to teenagers, so you'll find a team of us at St Andrew's Mirehouse on a Friday night together with teenagers having a great time.  I really enjoy being alongside young people - they bring their challenges, but they are full of energy, ideas and hope.  We hope to encourage them in their Christian journey and to commit to being disciples of Jesus Christ in every area of their lives.  Prior to ordination training, I was nurtured by the good people of St Andrew's Mirehouse and I give thanks to God for their generosity towards me, particularly as they are sending me out to be ordained Deacon at St James' Whitehaven in the summer - something I am very much looking forward to.  When I'm not studying for ordination with St Mellitus College Liverpool, you'll find me out and about climbing something or on my mountain bike - I love to be outside with Tony - we enjoy God's creation together.  The other loves of mine are to dance and  make music - I play the accordion and lead a ceilidh if asked - I find that as we dance and laugh together, we meet God in fun of it all.  I am very much looking forward to coming to St James' as self-supporting Curate, especially as I live in the Parish.  In the meantime, please be assured of my prayers for you all. Alison.
