Community Centre

 

St James’ Church Parish Hall and Community Centre is on High Street, Whitehaven Cumbria, CA 28 7PY (opposite St James’ Church). Our National Grid reference is NX 97640 18419.The building is managed by the Parish of Whitehaven Parochial Church Council.

The hall is principally used by the Parish of Whitehaven but also provides spaces for hire for the benefit of the people of Whitehaven. We are happy to welcome local groups who’s aims/objectives support the building of community, encouraging/developing children and young people, promoting health and wellbeing and tackling social isolation. 

The Centre is a single storey building with step free access from outside and throughout the building, making it accessible for those with more limited mobility. It is suitable for all age groups, from babies to the elderly.

Facilities

Main Hall

The hall can accommodate 100-120 people, depending on room layout. It is light and airy and has a low stage. We hold a PPL licence for groups wishing to use music as part of their activities.

Small Room

This can accommodate about 30 people. It is ideal for meetings, local clubs and groups.

Other facilities

  • We provide banquet style chairs for both rooms, plus rectangular tables which can seat 6 people comfortably.  Use of chairs, tables, plus heating and lighting are included in the hire charge.
  • The kitchen is equipped to professional standards and is equipped with utensils and equipment and has the capacity to facilitate meals for 50/60 people
  • We have male and female (and disabled) toilets and baby changing facilities.
  • The Centre is single storey building with step free access from the street and throughout the building.
  • There is parking for 9 cars directly outside the Centre.
